A House with History
Since Christian Krog(h) opened the restaurant in 1910, Krogs Fiskerestaurant has been an integral part of Copenhagen’s dining scene – a place where generations have gathered around the finest offerings from the sea. Through changing times, shifting culinary movements, and evolving gastronomic eras, the restaurant has remained true to its essence: a deep respect for ingredients, craftsmanship, and hospitality.
Over the years, Krogs has welcomed a wide range of guests – from loyal regulars and cultural figures to politicians and members of the Danish royal family. Among them was Frederik IX of Denmark, who is said to have appreciated the restaurant’s classic seafood preparations. Such stories form part of the house’s soul – quiet reminders of a time when long lunches would effortlessly turn into evenings, and when discretion and quality were a given.
In the spring of 2026, Krogs underwent a careful and comprehensive renovation. The ambition was never to reinvent, but to refine – to preserve the soul of the house while elevating both its surroundings and its gastronomy to a new level.
Today, Krogs presents itself as a contemporary seafood restaurant with an ambitious gourmet kitchen, where classical craftsmanship has been sharpened, technique refined, and the quality of produce placed at the absolute centre.
Original architectural details have been respected, proportions maintained, and the spirit of the space preserved – now complemented by a contemporary sense of calm and clarity, grounded in the very best of Danish design. In this way, past and present are felt throughout the entire experience.
In the dining room, the balance is the same. Service is attentive yet relaxed; rooted in tradition, yet adapted to a culinary approach where a heightened sense of detail defines and elevates the experience.
Krogs has never stood still – but it has never forgotten where it comes from. And that is precisely the essence of the experience today.
